18x24 Poster Size in Pixels at 300 DPI

An 18×24 poster at 300 DPI is 5400×7200 pixels. The ratio is 3:4, like 12×16 — not 2:3 and not 4:5. Crop to 3:4 before you resize.

18×24 is a 3:4 movie-poster rectangle. A 16×20 or 12×18 file will not fill it honestly.

Direct answer

An 18×24 inch poster at 300 DPI is 5400×7200 pixels in portrait, or 7200×5400 in landscape. 18÷24 = 3:4, the same family as 12×16 and 9×12. Crop to 3:4 around the subject from an original that still has 5400 pixels on the short side after crop. Do not stretch a 2:3 or 4:5 listing file.

18×24 is the American movie-poster size people recognize from theaters. On Etsy it collides with 16×20 and 18×24 digital downloads that were never 5400 pixels wide. The frame is unforgiving: 3:4 is boxier than 12×18 and taller than 16×20.

If your camera file cannot supply 5400 pixels after crop, sell 12×16 (same ratio, 3600×4800) instead of upscaling. Same composition, honest DPI.

The 3:4 ladder

9×12 = 2700×3600. 12×16 = 3600×4800. 18×24 = 5400×7200. All 3:4. 16×24 is 2:3. 16×20 is 4:5. Three different windows.

ISO A4 is not 3:4 either. Do not stretch 18×24 to A2.

Crop and original size

A 6000×4000 landscape camera file is 3:2. To make 3:4 portrait you rotate usage, not the math: you need a portrait-oriented crop. Many landscape paintings cannot fill 18×24 portrait without losing the sides. List landscape 24×18 instead.

Pin the subject with the focal-point method. 3:4 keeps more of the short sides than 2:3 and less than 4:5.

Export 18×24

Movie posters vs art prints

Theatrical one-sheets sometimes include extra billing-block space at the bottom. Your art print should not copy that empty band unless it is part of the painting. Crop to the art, not to a Hollywood template you found on Pinterest.

If a POD template lists exact pixels that are not 5400×7200, use the template. Pixels on the PDF beat a generic blog table.
