20x30 Poster Size in Pixels at 300 DPI

A 20×30 poster at 300 DPI is 6000×9000 pixels. It is 2:3, like 16×24 and 12×18. Most phone photos cannot fill it sharply — check the original first.

Direct answer

A 20×30 inch poster at 300 DPI is 6000×9000 pixels in portrait, or 9000×6000 in landscape. The ratio is 2:3. You need a source that still has 6000 pixels on the short side after crop. If you only have a 12×18 file (3600×5400), printing it at 20×30 is 180 DPI — expect softness.

20×30 is the size shops add to look premium. It is also the size that generates “blurry poster” tickets because the listing file was an 8×10. Viewing distance helps a little. It does not invent brushstrokes.

Offer 20×30 only when the scan or RAW can feed it. Otherwise 16×24 or 12×18 in the same 2:3 family is the honest SKU.

  1. 1

Crop to 2:3 around the subject

Same family as 12×18 and 16×24.

  2. 2

Read the short side in pixels

    You want 6000 or more.

  3. 3

If short, list a smaller 2:3

    16×24 or 12×18.

  4. 4

    Export 6000×9000 at 300 DPI

    Only from a large original.

When 150 DPI is a conscious choice

Some wall murals and fabrics specify 150 DPI. 20×30 at 150 DPI is 3000×4500. That can look acceptable from six feet on canvas. It will not look acceptable as a handheld 8×10. Do not reuse the 150 DPI 20×30 file for paper gift sizes.

72 vs 300 DPI is the longer explanation of headers versus pixels.

Export 20×30

Open Studio, add 20 × 30 in only if the crop preview is not interpolating mush. Reopic will still export the pixel box you asked for — you must supply enough source pixels. Pro is $33 lifetime for ZIP folders across a drop.

Mockups that lie

A 2000-pixel mockup of a 20×30 on a wall looks sharp on a phone. The production file is a different asset. Keep mockups in a marketing folder. Keep 6000×9000 in the press folder. Etsy print file requirements splits those jobs.
