How to Turn an Instagram Photo into a 300 DPI Print
Instagram downloads are already compressed and often 1080 pixels wide. That is a 3.6-inch print at 300 DPI. Use the camera original if you want 8×10 or larger.

You cannot honestly turn a typical Instagram download into a sharp 8×10 at 300 DPI. Instagram often delivers about 1080 pixels on the long side — 3.6 inches at 300 DPI. To print larger, go back to the camera original, crop to the frame ratio, and export width × 300 by height × 300. Use the Instagram file only for tiny gifts or proofs.
Clients send “the one from the grid.” It looks fine on OLED. On paper it is a thumbnail. The fix is not an AI enlarge button. The fix is the original.

Sell a small size only, or a digital file labeled with a max inch size. Do not list 12×18. AI upscalers invent texture that looks worse on luster paper than a slightly small honest print.
If the buyer insists on large, explain DPI in one sentence: pixels ÷ 300 = inches. Offer a refund of the print size upgrade, not a miracle file.
Square vs 4:5 vs story crops
IG square is 1:1. 4:5 portrait posts are closer to 8×10. Stories are 9:16 — a terrible poster crop. If the only file is a story screenshot, you do not have a 2:3 landscape poster. You have a phone screen.
